BFG tires

Will be getting time for a new set of tires. My `86 F250 diesel is now roadworthy and some final touches making sure it stays that way. I was planning on going with either BFG All Terrain or Rugged Terran. Its strictly a work truck that I want to keep in order. My sizes will be either the original 235/85/16 or just a little wider 265/75/16. Only about an inch difference in width. But about $40 to $100 diff in price from the 4 choices.

Personally, all terrain ta. Those tires are amazing on and off road and last a long time.

They sure seem expensive for what you get. And, from what I've seen with a family members vehicle that's used nothing but all terrain t/a tires for more than 250,000 miles now the tires don't last very long at all. I've been super happy with my Hankook Dynrapro H/T's and Optimio tires on other vehicles though.

I had Falken Wild Peak HT's and LOVED them. BFG's are great tires, if you dont need all terrains, look at the Commercial TA's..AWESOME tires.

I've had 8 sets of BFG A/Ts. I'm a fan. Reasonable off-road performance on my Bronco, good on-road performance, great snow/ice performance, not much road noise and what I thought was reasonable tire life (~50K miles on my '85 F-250HD).

No experience with the Rugged Trail, so I can't compare.

As far as cost, when I bought tires for my '97 F-250 last year the BFGs were in the middle of the pack. Coopers were maybe $80 / set cheaper, but Goodyears were about $80 / set more expensive. I decided $80 wasn't enough to risk getting a tire I didn't like as much when I already knew I liked the previous 7 sets.

I disagree. Like the other poster said, I get very long life out of them, and they are a good compromise between noise and traction(the All-Terrains). I will agree they are expensive.

I recently got a set of four new All Terrain TA KO2`s. I had two new KOs in the back but demanded that they swap them out because they don't carry the KOs. Worked it out with Discount and got all four tires done with the 7,000 miles KOs I had as trade in for about $50 cheaper than just buying the two front ones by themselves.

On topic how ever, make sure you don't go too large, I used to have a slight rubbing with some hard bumps on my right front tire now it rubs at just about all bumps and the tire scrubs my radius arm if turning sharp. Only reason is cause the KO2s have aggressive shoulder design and they stick out further than normal tires would.

Personally I wish BFG wouldn't have put so much tread on the sidewall of the new KO2s. It's probably helpful off-road, and I might prefer it on my Bronco (which still has KOs). But I think it looks kind of ridiculous on a mostly street-driven vehicle like my pickup (which does have KO2s). But that's just looks. I'm at least as happy with the performance of the KO2s as the KOs (so far I only have about 6 months and 4,000 miles on the KO2s).

The ko2's are very nice offroad.

I'm a big fan of the BFG AT, run them on my jeep.

If you're into the BFG look, the General Grabber AT2 may be of interest.

I agree, the KOs I got over the KO2s at the time was because they weren't off road aggressive looking. They also wouldn't scrub as bad as these do but I still have to do ball joints and get an alignment done so it might help out some afterwards.

But I do like the KO2 aggressive look but for a street truck I would have much prefer the KOs which are discontinued.
