I seem to go through BFG A/T's and the Nitto Terra Grapplers awefully quick too. But they aren't highway tires as much as off road. After we've had these torque monsters for several years I wonder if anybody has found any "All Terrain" tires that work as designed and last more than 25,000 miles?
about 10 of us in the Fire dept. use the BFG all terrain T/A.... Love them....
had them on the Hummer H2, and just put 37's on the F250.... I use discount tire and get the certificates.... free rotations... will price match... and if your are not happy the certs help you get replacements... but I have never had to get a replacement yet as the tires perform very well....
i have been running the nittos they are done at about 38-39k i wont run them again, I have been seeing a lot of very positive things on those cooper at3 tires, i will probably run those or the BFG AT. I know that the Michelin AT do really well as far as getting high miles, but i really like the 285 70 17 size on my truck and they dont make it in an E load in that size. I actually have two sets of rims, i have been thinking about a summer and winter tire, might be able to go little longer without buying tires if i am changing them twice a year, i dont know something to think about i guess. but i dont think the falkens will be a pick.
If you are getting 38k on a set of tires that's great. I have run the cooper at3 and bfg all terrain. cooper will get 35 - 40k bfg last me 20k with better traction. I have nitto terras and trails both are great all around tires. My wife has the highway tire and they have 18k with minimal wear. Nittos are the best tire for the money in my book. If I get 30k out of a set of tires that's great. I tow a lot.
I fall in line with Cold One on towing, either boat / 5th wheel / atv trailer, plus I do have lead permanently implanted into my right foot (you know those weights you can get for the Pine Wood Derby cars, LOL).
I'm about 5K from my 20" Nitto's being done. I use Discount Tire too, they are real good about matching price, plus I didn't get insurance; then don't you know it I get a small hitch pin from a wagon driven sideways through the tread. The guys sold me the hazard insurance for $160, then replaced the $400 tire!! That's service, but I have bought about 16 tires from them in the last 2 years.
I think I'm getting some nice 18" rims and tires, out the door they equal about what just the 20" tires cost. I'll save the 20's for truck pulls since the tread nice and low. I'll have to look long and hard at those Coopers for sure.
I just got the coopers. At3. I like them so far, give me a couple months and I'll tell you all about them. I run highway a lot, got 52,000 out of the trail grapplers, all towing highway. I will miss those in soft ground though........
I do use discount tire direct they are great, however the nittos I hate I will not run them again, they were great when I first got them but when I started getting into the 30k range I noticed chunks of rubber coming off the tread in the center part of the tire and that's with normal rotation and I keep up on checking the tire pressure. buying tires is such a pain. the hankook dyanapro AT look good also I have seen a few trucks with them mostly 150s. thanks for the info fellas.
BFG A/T KO right now. Had Cooper AT3 before and they lasted longer than BFG's.
Going with Cooper S/T Maxx this time around. Not overly aggressive but good profile and heard they are still quiet. Guys I know who have them swear by them for wear and quiet. It's a relatively new tire from Cooper so I haven't seen much in them yet for wear. I put 30,000 miles on my truck per year so if I get 1 1/2 to 2 years out of them I will be happy. Only about 20% of that is towing.
I have the Cooper AT/3s. I originally bought them for my 2010 1/2 ton and then saw a used 2011 SD. My mother works at the dealer and I got a hell of a deal on a used truck so I bought it. Part of the deal was putting my Coopers on the SD. I now have a tire that is out of round. Of course Cooper will not warranty it because it is not the original vehicle the tires were originally installed on. The tires work great in mild off road conditions. I use my truck for hunting and have had it in some offroad areas. Nothing that I wasnt sure I could get out of. Other than that, I am very satisfied with the tires. They wear very well.

Good info thanks I really am torn between the AT3 and the BFG KO AT, it will probably come down to which one I can get a better deal on. I have a all silver 11 F250 I got some very slightly used mickey Thompson 17x9 all black wheels from my brother im really excited about getting the new look.
You guys getting over 30,000 miles on a set of tires. Must be doing a lot of hiway driving. I kinda figure that is my budget area for buying new tires.
