Hoping someone has a link to a write-up on changing the auto tranny fluid. I googled but came up short. Up to now, I've been cleaning up the underbody to prep for this, but figured it's be nice to see a demo before I tackle it this weekend. Any help or advice would be appreciated. For reference this is for a 360 automatic 72' F250.
Awesome, thank you. Sorry for the questions, but you wouldn't also have a recommended transmission fluid to use or a link to tech specs on fill quantities for my 72? I guess I need to figure out which auto box I have first.
If you don't have a '72 Ford truck shop manual, you need to get one. It will have all the fill capacities for the various items on your truck as well as other valuable information on how to work on it. --consider the manual as a tool that's just as important as the wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers you use to work on the truck.
The Ford shop manuals can be bought in hard copy form or on CD.
I have the CD version for my '69 F250. I copied each manual to the desktop, then put them all in the same folder. I can print out whatever I need for the job at hand.
If you want printed copies, they have those, too, but be ready to shell out some coin!
My 69 owners manual says for a C-4 it takes 20 1/2 pints. The C-6 takes 25 1/2 pints. The HD Cruise-O-Matic takes 22 pints. Don't forget to drain the cooler too!
