Its a little more than just swapping over the parts. You have to modify the 2wd frame rails up front to bolt spring perches. The rest is fairly straight forward. With both trucks side by side you can see the differences. Lots of rivet removing thats a pain even with torches and air chisels. If both frames are same wheel base simpler to swap over cabs and beds.
It will be less work to swap your body (with the clutch setup) and engine than to fight getting a (I'm assuming TTB) setup into a 2wd frame. Transmission/T-case/driveline will be the biggest headache, but would be even if you were to convert the 2wd frame over. I assume you're wanting to keep the 4 speed?

As stated above, its a pain in the @$$ to convert a frame from 2wd to 4x4. This is speaking from experience, and I went with a solid axle which in theory is easier... but still requires a complete suspension change from coils to springs and locating everything in the right spot...
Generally speaking, you'll need to find a 4x4 transmission if you want to retain the manual transmission. Unless you go divorced transfer case, but thats another whole fabrication nightmare to add in.
What model/cab/bed is each truck, and what condition is each truck in?
Both single cab long beds my 84 is good nothing wrong but the 86 has been t-boned has no bed and is dented to hell both are f-250s with 6.9L IDIs. The 86 is at a salvage yard that's closing down and they're selling things cheap and vehicles that don't get sold are getting crushed
If the frame is still straight on the '86, you could swap your cab and bed onto it, and since the cab contains the VIN, it would in effect be the same truck. Which engine/tranny to use would depend on which is in better shape, and whether one is a manual and the other an auto, and you have a preference. That would avoid the necessary frame mods to do a 4x4 swap.

The '86 from what I could tell since the bed was gone the frame looks iffy... With thick rust on it. I'm wanting to keep my 4spd I like it better than an automatic
