Question 2wd to 4wd

I was told that you can make a 2wd truck into a 4wd truck and was wondering if anyone knows if this could work I figured that the guy was jerking my chain but you never know unless you ask

Any info would be great

Buy a 4wd parts truck and swap bodies. The frames are different on 79 and earlier 2wd and 4wd trucks. 80+ half tons 4wd will bolt in using the same frame.

It would be a lot easer to swap bodies!
You'd need to swap all the mounts, springs, etc. Probably some custom fab too
