What is this bracket for, I thought it was for the battery tie down, but the battery tray has two holes for the J hooks, so I know it is not for that.
Yes that is a Bungee cord tie down, that will soon be fixed, Got a used tie down from my brother today, just need to wire brush it and give it a coat of paint.
Could you provide a picture of the whole bracket, both sides so I know exactly what I am looking for, Thank You
What do you mean "both sides"? ....the J-hooks hook to the battery tray (where your bungee is attached) and the threaded ends go through the battery clamp and the clamp is secured by nuts. The fender bracket goes between the clamp and nut..

Ok see if I can explain myself better, the actual battery hold down, the piece that goes across the battery, In the picture it looks like it is made out of metal and the piece on the engine side of the battery looks like angle and is about as long as the battery, but I keep getting told it is plastic and none of the plastic ones look like what was shown in the picture, was it metal in 1973 and plastice after that? I do not know if I am explaining it correctly but hopefully this will get my point across???
Again Thanks fpr the help, and sorry for being a pain in the ***
Ok.. I get it. The version pictured is metal but is coated/encapsulated in a plasticized rubber. It's a tad soft so I use a washer to prevent the serrated undersides ot the nuts (pictured) from digging in. There is another version which is more angular and is made of hard plastic. I prefer the one pictured since a battery has lots of momentum and would likely snap the later version.

The battery hold down in posts 4 & 5 is a reproduction of the original C5AZ-10718-A rubber coated metal hold down.
It was replaced in 1970 with the D0DZ-10718-B (replaced D0DZ-10718-A) plastic hold down.
