Correct Battery Tray??

Can anyone tell me if the battery tray I have is the correct one for my '57? I'm checking catalogs, etc and this seems to be one from a later year? Like the '60's?

Thanks!

Here is a tray from a '58. Don't know if it would be the same or not.

I would think that '57's and '58's would be the same. I just bought one from LMC that is supposed to be for a '57-60 and it doesnt look like yours OR mine. Confusing!

I googled 1960 f100 engine images and found a bunch of photos that show the battery box. All look the same (different than mine...). Here are a few.

They all look pretty similar though. Thanks for the effort!

I would expect mine to look like yours Walston. Basically like a shelf hanging off of the firewall. But mine has a leg running down the firewall underneath one side as you can see in the photo. I think this is a tray out of a later model truck. Not to mention that the mounting holes on the fender side of the bracket dont line up with the factory mounting holes.

Yup My 57 has the same one.

It appears that the battery carrier (as Ford calls it) was changed for 59 and 60.

In 1957/58 the F100-600 had a part number of B7C-10732-C for the 50 Amp Hrs. battery or B7C-10732-D for the 70 Amp Hrs. Battery

For 50 and 60 in the F100-600 the part/number was changed to COTB-10732-A for all battery's

So the 57-58 could have one of 2 trays and the 59 and 60's should all be the same but different form either of the 57/58 tray's.

It would be nice to pin down which tray was what part number for the 57-58's

From what I have seen, the tray is the same for several years and the brackets change. My '60 and parts '60 both had, have the same as the google images. However, the '59 donor I have had the brackets like your original post. I ended up taking the tray from it and welding it to the brackets for the '60. Probably a few minutes with a master parts catalog could clear this all up!

Ya check post post #8 we know the trays were different . The 59 and 60 were obvious.

The 57 and 58 is where the questions a rise. I'll look at it closer when I get a chance.

For some reason my computer quit displaying pictures, so I can't see your tray. Unless you want to keep everything "factory correct", you probably don't want the original tray. It held a battery that was long and skinny. I don't recall the battery number. I made a new tray for mine (1958) to replace my rusted tray. I fabricated one to fit a 24F series (a common size in many '60s Fords) and welded it to my original brackets. A 24F may even be correct for the '59 and '60, but the '57 and '58 used a battery that is no longer common (i.e. expensive, if even reproduced)

The group 29NF batteries for the 57's and 58's is still easily available.

My 59 has one like Mathew's picture. I took the rooted out tray off, kept the uprights and built a new one. Here is the thread with pictures. Correct?? Well, it's better than stock and darn sure correct for my needs, lol.

OK I think I have this sorted. If any one has comments or needs to correct it speak up.

The OP's (flhx06 ) battery tray (See below) appears to be be from a slick 61-64 the part number is C4TZ-10732-D this tray is reproduced.
Battery Tray Assembly | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts

The Hold down Clamp is a top mounted clamp and does not appear to be reproduced.
But the tray does appear to able to use the C5DZ-10718-A side clamp mentioned later on.

The tray is also the same as the trays I have seen on the web in early slicks.

Martin Torres Battery Tray (See Below) Is the same as mine and is either the 70 amp hrs. one, part number B7C-10732-D Or the 55 amp hrs one part number B7C-10732-C .

Both of these battery use a top mounted hold down clamp part number A0A-10718-B. That appears to be reproduced.
https://www.larrystbird.com/product/...ard-battery-2/

My Canadian 1957 MPC lists the B7C-10732-D as "dash mounted battery 5-5/8" wide x 14-3/8" long - excluding 2 bolt holes on diagonal corners".

I believe the one pictured below from Martin is the 55 amp hrs battery tray part number B7C-10732-C.

The Battery tray listed for 1959 and 1960 is part number C0TB-10732-A

I believe that the one posted by Walston (see below) is part number C0TB-10732-A and the correct one for 59 and 60.

The reason for this is 59 and 60 battery tray's list a different style of hold down clamp part number C5DZ-10718-A, this is a side mounted clamp and is reproduced.
Battery Hold Down Bracket | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts

The tray Walston posted is obviously set up for a side mounted clamp.

If anyone has any comments or corrections please feel free to jump in.
