when to consider more cooling?
My concern is that the terrain here is far from extreme with relatively short rolling hills that dont generally exceed 5% so I'm not sure what one would expect once I hit some real hills.
Not looking to spend money unless really necessary, but not looking to get surprised on a real hill either.
This is on my expedition with the 4r75e and standard towing package (7 row aux cooler). I could upgrade to the cooler to the max tow cooler (14 row) for about $200.
From those who have more experience than I, what do you think? Am I on the edge? I'm a little beyond the 6,000lbs recommended limit for a truck without the larger cooler. The gvwr of the camper is 6900.
if your somewhere between 175-225F @ the test port........run 'er.
but the basis of the question is:
from those with more experience pulling hills than myself, how much hotter should I expect to see when climbing long steep hills?
if it's 50°F, then I'm screwed and I need more cooling.
if it's 30°F, then I'm probably right on the edge.
unloaded to loaded is about 40-50°F depending on outside temps. normal driving is about 150°F
