Trans Cooler

This question may have been asked, but i'm going to ask again. Most know i have an 06 FX4 with the 5.4 and 373's.. I do have the towing package but i need another trans cooler. I know there is an after market cooler that can be used as well with the factory cooler. Reason is i tow my toy hauler and in the heat i'm around the 200 206 deg's with the trans and thats to hot for my likings. I did the trip last week from NJ to watkins glenn NY for the nas car race and we left at 5:00 am and all the way out it was cool outside so the temp never went above 180 towing.. but coming home last monday it was hot and humid and i reached the 206 mark and to me thats not good. what is the best brand of cooler to buy? Price dose not concern me as this will pay for itself own the road with the weight i tow. Truck is almost pd for and i do not want another payment so answers will be nice. Thanks guys.

Where Are You Measuring The Temperature?

How are you measuring the temperature? And where is that sensor?

206 in the pan may be cause for concern. 206 leaving the transmission going to the cooler may be fine. Mark Kovalsky, a former Ford automatic transmission engineer, said not to worry until a much higher maximum was reached, I believe 225. I think that was at the pressure test port, though.

Good luck,
