Question Motor plate question?

I did not see this when the motor & trany were apart and out of the truck but the motor plate is missing on my project.

It is an 81 300 I6 T18 trany and from what I have seen posted the bell bolt pattern is the same as the small block v8's, is this right?

If so would this be up to the 351 family (all 351"s?) and what years?
Is it different between auto & stick tranys and if so what is the difference?

Thanks for the information a head of time.

On my truck (460) the plate is used to locate and space the starter.
the plate is the same for automatics and manual gearboxes.

The Windsors and the 1-6 engines share a bolt pattern. (351W)
The 335 and 385 series share a bolt pattern. (351M)
Diesels have yet another.

I'd imagine Windsor's use the same plate but have no idea if the 300 has the same starter location.
In fact I doubt it.

Interesting Gary, that the 460 changed plates when it went to EFI.
The C6 and T-19 were both still available in '88.
Used the same starter...

I wonder if this was the root of my starter woes?

That's a really good question! Might explain something.

Thanks guys, so it looks like it is a 300 only plate.
That was for 1980 would it be the same plate up to the end?
I ask because of the 460 plate change with EFI you guys talked about.
Thanks again

C5AZ-7007-A .. Engine Rear Plate - Use with M/T / Obsolete

1965/67 E100 240 I-6 / 1965/72 Galaxie/LTD 240 I-6 / 1965/74 F100/350 240/300 I-6 / 1969/74 E100/300 240/300 I-6 / 1975/96 F100/350 & E100/350 300 I-6.

No I-6 available in Galaxie/LTD after 1972. 240 I-6 cancelled at the end of the 1974 model run.

HAVEN FORD in Haven KS has 1 = 620-465-2252.

DON'S TRUCK SALES in Fairbank IA has 1 = 319-635-2751.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 38 = 800-476-9653.

Gary, Chris and maybe some others in this forum only have the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog, so they probably aren't aware of the myriad 240 & 300 I-6 applications I posted.

Dave - The "6 cyl" row on that page says "80/", which means from 1980 to the end of the catalog, which was 1989. But, as Bill points out, it started being used in 1965 - as you can tell from the "C5" in the prefix. And, Bill tells us it was used out to 1996. So, it is probably available in a salvage.

Thanks guys if I didn't ask I would have been looking at small block ones also.
I will check for a used one, heck most guys chuck them when going to v8.
