starter keeps bending plate
Ive got an 86 f350 4x4 with the 351w. My problem is when I crank the starter it bends the plate between the starter and bell housing. Its a brand new starter; and if I take it off and bend the plate straight and put it all back together it will start the truck, but the next time it just grinds because the plate bends and its not lined up anymore. Its not bending a lot just enough that the starter wont engage. Has anyone had this problem or any ideas how to fix it? I've never had a starter do this before so I'm trying to figure out why its even doing it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yea it the thin plate about an 1/16" thick. I dont understand it myself cause the bolts stay tight and its through the plate and attaches to the bell housing. The plate shouldn't matter but if I take it off and straighten the plate it will work long enough to start it once. I'm gonna check the flywheel and make sure its not bent or damaged to cause it to do that, but idk.
