Will tranny bolt up without block plate.

I have a 351m and 3spd manual that is going into my wifes '73 F100. Will that tranny be ok bolted to motor without a block plate?

You need the block plate. its what aligns the starter.

Hwo is that? The bellhousing has the bolt holes.

the holes in the starter housing might have some slop that will let the starter move around a bit. the block plate has the big round starter hole that is very tight to the starter housing and locates the starter exactly where it's supposed to be. i'd get the block plate if at all possible, it's real easy to put in now. after you chew up the starter and flywheel it'll be easy to put in then too i guess?

also the block plate is like a shim if you don't have it in there then the starter is too deep into the flywheel. You really should have it in there. Will it bolt up yeah, will you have problems more than likely.
