I just bought a used 2001 Excursion limited. As soon as I left the dealer the power locks just stopped working completely. Neither switch works. The fuse is OK. Any ideas?
Tom
Do they try to work? Meaning do you hear them click and/or move slightly? If so, it's the power lock actuators located on the the latch assembly on each door. There are several threads dealing with this issue. I just replaced all four doors on my 2001. The new units are of a differnet design and the price was cut in half.
Hey Guys,
I didn't think to look for two separate fuses but there are. The 30 amp maxi fuse in the engine compartment was blown. Replaced it and it blew again the next day. I guess I am going to have to track down a short. Any idea where to start?
Tom
Valvestud, you said there is a new part for the actuators. What's that new part#? When I look it up on fordpartsonline.com I still get the $57 part. I'm now down to only the rear liftgate lock working, its driving the wife nuts!
The ones I bought from the dealer this summer for my 2000 limited were 3L3Z25218A42AA and I paid 35.80, the list was 39.78 each. I had to replace 3 of the 4 doors when I first purchased the truck.
Yea I should of mentioned that the site still shows the old part numbers and prices. Here are the correct ones:
Left, 3L3Z25218A43-AA
Right, 3L3Z25218A42-AA
If you just order as you see it on the site, they will switch over to the new ones because the old ones are gone. You can also call them and they'll hook you up with the numbers above.
Total price for all four doors was $129 and change.
