Confused about electric choke
I have searched the forum on the issue of the electric choke in my 1978 F150 fuse block labeled "CHOKE"......and the voltage at this point is 12 volt's on both side's of the fuse....(key on engine off).
I was not able to find any information about this......all I found was the choke circuit comes from the "S" (stator) terminal on back of the alt. which makes the voltage on this circuit read AC volt's.
Can some one explain how this circuit is wired and what voltage is at the choke spring plate on the carburetor.
Hopefully I have explained the issue I am having with my situation and some one can shed some knowledge on this !!
Thank's in advance : Leland

I just double checked the Ford factory wiring schematic, and the choke circuit is completely independent of the fuse block. It is an unfused circuit that goes from the alternator terminal to the choke.
The factory choke doesn't operate off of 12V. However, aftermarket carbs do operate with 12V at the choke.

The one thing I didn't mention is that it is a 460 out of a 1975 Lincoln with the factory 4350 motorcraft carb.
Thank you mikeo0o0o0.....glad you went the extra step to get that info.....thank you krazyness also.
Can you tell me mikeo0o0o0 what purpose the fused circuit would be used for ??

That will take you to page 2 of the schematic. In the upper left corner is the fuse panel. You can find out which fuse you're talking about and from the index below it, you can see which circuits it protects.
It's very possible this same basic panel was used in some other application (i.e. passenger car) where it was used for a choke.

I couldn't tell either, but I wasn't convinced. So I went out to my truck and looked. Clearly labeled "COURT"
Found this as well

According to the schematics, the Choke wire fed from the alternator stator goes to C-210 and then C-212.
Wire is 4 W-Bk (White Black).
C-210: 2pin plug "R.H. Fender Apron, Behind Battery"
C-212: 2pin plug "In Engine Compartment Center of Dash Panel"
Hope this helps!
Also, FYI... If your considering a 3G Alternator swap, you can use it's stator wire for the choke as well.
