Anyone got any ideas on replacing the lid or upgrading the lid in the front compartment? I would like my phone to be able to sit there without sliding off.
I found this cheap plastic thing at Pep Boys (can't find a pic of it now) that you adhere to your dash with velcro - I put the remote to the head unit, loose change, whatever in it. It's stuck to my console lid right now, but I've been thinking of getting a replacement and using the tray as the base for sinking it into the lid. Basically cut out an opening and find a way to have it flush. You could do something like that fairly easy I think.
For me it would be small (I have a pocket in the dash for my iPod, and my cell phone rides in a ProClip mount on the dash), but I'd imagine you could make one any size you wanted.
So long as you can find a plastic tray that has a small lip to it, you should be able to remove the faux wood from the lid, then dremel an opening so the tray fits countersunk in the lid itself. You'd need to cut the 'wood' larger to accommodate the lip for a flush fit.
I imagine you'd have to do this to the front section of the lid in order to avoid hitting the basket (for lack of a better term) that sits on the rear section of the top rails.
