I love that thing! It keeps my random keys, wallet, cell phone, etc all in a central area, without it sliding around. If I could rig a toaster oven to sit in it, I might never leave my truck.
I love that thingy, too. It keeps my sunglasses right where I need them without having to put them above the sunvisor. They always fall and I get hit in the head with them when I forget and pull down the visor so I really like that thing!
I'm all in for the toaster oven! I tried the chain thing but the reflection on the glass bugs me. Actually thats why I don't use it, I can't stand the reflections.
Put a small piece of black cloth over the stuff. The cloth can also be used to clean all the water off the switches when you open the door in the rain.
You could bed some pet rats or snakes up there, or even bed down a small dog if you wanted. They would at least keep you company.
Actually I put my wallet and cellphone up there. That way I can see it ring when I have the radio cranked. My 87 pound Lab/Pit Bull mix won't stay on the dash very well..
Thats what i just did, I bought some rubber cabinet shielving material and cut a piece out the size of the bin, now my sunglasses dont slide around up there any more.
I plan on looking into maybe doing my center console, glovebox, and cup holders.
I love that small storge space. I keep a microfiber cloth in it for extremely fast dusting. (side note: microfiber cloth is one great invention. I have some stategically placed all over my house. Can you completely clean your entire TV in less than 30 seconds? Buy them, instant payoff.) Also sometimes the sun glares right in my eyes off that fake wood grain dash piece, cloth is right there for instant glare relief. Sunglasses, keys, coins, etc thrown up there all the time. Trust me that area will grow on you and you'd miss it.
I think "The Dash Thingy" looks like it will be quite useful/handy for all the items mentioned , especially the toaster oven. My dog will like this new truck better than the old one , if it can make toast.
