Dashpad removal

Would like to replace my dashpad with one that isnt cracked and deteriorated, but not sure what is securing it to the dash?? Can anyone point me in the right direction with a procedure to use? Dont really want to just cover it, but i guess that is another option too. The one that is on there now looks horrible and is falling apart.

Thanks alot!!

I think you have to pull dash cluster and glove box liner to get to all the nuts that are on the back side. I think there are 6 or 7. Don't miss the one in the center of the pad where it drops down next to the radio. Probably a pain to change, I did mine while the dash was out.

The dash top is pretty easy to remove. There are approximately six screws in the front and two or three near the defroster vents.

Once they are removed the top will come right off.

If you have speakers in the dash take care but nothing else should be attached.

I covered mine. It, also, was pretty simple. I just made sure I cleaned, then roughed the areas that were to be glued. I was pleased with the results.

Good luck.

Well...as luck would have it, i found an mint replacement dash pad at a salvage yard i visit every once and a while - and only $15 for it!!

During removal from the old truck was great practice for what it involves to put it in mine. You're right, piece of cake!!

Thanks for all the replies!!
