5th wheel/gn prep

What kind of hitch did ford provide with there superdutys that have this option? Reason I ask is the stock caps/plugs that came on the truck to keep the wholes covered are absolute garbage and Im looking for something better. Plus it wouldn't hurt to know

I believe it is the Reese. However, many hitch manufacturers build hitches to fit the Ford prep. I bought the Demco Hitchhiker slider that fits in the pucks. I never had a problem with the hole plugs prior to putting the hitch in. However, they are raised a bit, and if you slide a lot of cargo in/out of the bed, I can see where that could become an issue.

My hole plugs work fine. As said though they'll pop out if I slid something flat into the bed. Be better if the holes had a seal around them, at least mine don't.

The prep and hitch by Ford is Reese Elite. It is the same Reese Elite you can buy aftermarket with a Ford sticker and PN on it. Someone here in the 6.7 forum found some aftermarket metal plugs for the pucks but I can't remember who. Try a search.

Along with the plugs for the puck holes,, there should have been some plastic rings to go around the pucks when your truck arrived at dealer or you ordered the prep kit to install yourself.

Ya I have the plugs and the rings but I'm always sliding stuff in and out and there always coming off. I know what your referring to Karl4cat. If I'm thinking the same thing you are they were stainless and kinda screwed in and stayed in place and they were sold at fifthwheelcap.com. Apparently that website is no more and you can't get em anymore.

I got the truck used with the hitch included and no rings, just the plugs. The holes aren't centered over the hitch mount points so maybe that's why the rings were not put in originally.

I got no hole plugs or rings with my truck. My buddies 2011 didn't have them either, so while I thought it was dumb, I also thought that's just how it was. I didn't realize til a year later on here it was supposed to come with them. They NEVER have trucks with the factory prep in stock, so I guess the tech that PDI'd it didn't know what they were and just threw them in the trash. I've turned the truck upside down looking for them in the cab.

My only solution to the OP's issue is a rubber bed mat. Take the plugs out, and lay the mat down over it. The mat will lay *almost* flat.

By now I'll assume you've looked under the rear seat. I called Reese when I thought my plugs were missing and told them I bought a hitch and never got them, they sent me a new set. Never asked for the rings though as I didn't know they were supposed to be there.
