I have a F250 with factory prep and my only complaint is the mickey mouse raised plastic plugs to cover the holes for the hitch. The first time you load anything in the bed you knock the plastic covers out of the holes. With such a nice set up and Idea you would think Ford would have better plugs and have them designed to be installed even or below the surface of the bed.
I have 2011 F350 Lariat on order with the factory 5th wheel, just wondering if anyone has one on their 2011 F350?
Did you get the fifthwheel hitch or the fifthwheel prep? If you got the prep kit, the only hitch that will fit is the reese elite series. The dealership here wanted about $1400 for the hitch and $100 to install. This is for a 18k hitch.
I found one on tweetys.com for $1130, free delivery. Hope this helps.

I put rubber bed mat over mine to keep them in place works good ! but yeah they are a little high the mat helps, just roll it up if you use the hitch...
Thank you for your solution. It's interesting I had done the same thing. I also have a tool box up front which could make it a little more difficult to roll up. I may take my mat out when hitch is installed. I also bought my hitch from a dealer here in Yakima cheaper than at Ford.
Have had 350 for almost a month. I have the factory installed hitch. I haven't towed yet as the trailer is buried in snow ........can't wait until the spring thaw.

I took a set of snips and cut out holes for the hitch. The plastic plugs stay in place when the hitch is out and I don't have to roll up the mat to install the hitch. Works great.
I have it, I also got a TralerSaver TS3 to replace my SuperGLide.
Hensely makes the TS# along with a nicely made adapter plate for the factory hitch.
The adapter is pricey, about $500, but it looks like it will allow any hitch that uses the "slotted rails" to work.
So although pricey for the adapter, if you already have a hitch it may be just what you need.
I will be adding a rubber mat as mentioned above. I keep knocking the plugs out too.

Spec.,
This is one of my favorite mods. The hitch sits high enough
that the base does not touch the mat.
No more coolers sliding around while pullin' the 5er.
And with the hitch.
I just picked up the 25k reese hitch from a dealership for $1300. From the prices I have seen the dealer cost is $1186 with a suggested retail of $1695 so check around for the best price.
Tomahawk
This may be old but does your Reese hitch bangs when you have side to side motion?
Mine has 2 rubber bumpers but they are too soft to stop anything.
I just left a msg at Reese and asked the question.
Seems they are too flimsy and don't stop anything.

Yea, I ended up using a short bungee cord around the handle to the base. My old el-cheapo RBW X-16 hitch didn't make as much noise as the Reese does.

Yes I have a RBW X16 in my old truck and it didn't do that.
If Reese done't come back with a solution I plan to change out the bumpers with something more like a bumper and not a baby bumper like they have.
I'll keep you posted here if I find somehthing better.
