Same here, but I helped a buddy put in a Ford Dealer part, looks like it came with the truck. He did have to go and have it activated at a Ford dealer though.
I wonder if it's compatible with an 07? I posted on both forums. Sometimes the 07 forum is kinda quiet.
Do you have a location for an integrated trailer brake controller? 2011(or late 2010)-2014 trailer brake controllers are not compatible with earlier years. Your best bet would be to go with an aftermarket unit.
Does anyone have any recommendations for controllers?
I used the Prodigy P-3 in my 2006 F150. It worked flawlessly.
It comes with a generic pigtail that you can splice into your existing under dash wiring, but purchasing the Ford specific pigtail makes it much easier to install.

So do you think it works better or looks better or both?
When I had the ford integrated brake controller on my 2012, i thought it was easier to set up, and worked really seamlessly with my trailer. Prior to that I had a Tekonsha Prodigy P2, which worked well, and was only a little more fussy to set up. the Tekonsha Prodigy line are very well regarded. that's what I'd buy if I needed to go aftermarket again.
Prior to that, I had a Tekonsha voyager, and that thing was a nightmare. Never could get it set up right.

It's not likely to be compatible. The Ford IBC does not have a display built into it like the Prodigy has, so you wouldn't know how much (if any) power was being applied to your brakes.
The newer trucks have an information display that contains all the trailer data and shows "trailer connected/disconnected", braking force, etc. That's why trucks that didn't come with the IBC have to have the PCM flashed by the dealer to make it work after installation.

Great information. I've purchased the Prodigy P3. Sounds like the best option for me. Thanks.
