Ok guys I've asked before but nobody really had much input. I changed oil a month or so ago. T6 with archoil. Same as previous oil change. Engine had a miss immediately afterwards. Seems to be around 2000 rpm. Numbers appear to be good. Pulled IPR to check screen. Everything looked good. Put blue spring in . No difference. Started smoking black on take off.
Had codes for EGR. Pulled it out and cleaned it and put it back in with new o-rings. Smoked and then stopped next start up. Still have miss. Took it to a friend with auto enginuity. Cylinder contribution looks good. Buzz test came out good. Went to another place for inspection and he hooked up snap on solus. Went through everything again. I show very brief mis fires on 2 and 3 when I left off mthrottle. Not when I'm on it and it's actually missing. I mean very brief. Like you have to be watching to see the misfire pop up and disappear. Again buzz test was good. And contribution test looks good. I'm stumped. Supposed to be leaving for Wyoming soon . Help lol
under certain conditions upon throttle lift FPW will be commanded to 0
so Watch for that next test put up FPW make sure it not 0
I don't think this is it since you seam to have caught onto a misfire Pattern with 2 & 3 just something to watch for
scan for DTC everytime injectors are emissions so any fault should trigger DTC fairly fast (continuous monitored) of coarse it must fail so many times in a specified time frame
Is this happening on cold start and clears up after reaching operating temperature? It sounds like your injectors are on there way out but that's just my opinion. You could have one injector that's basically bad and maybe 1 or 2 other injectors on the way out.
I own both AE and IDS. The only thing an AE contribution check will tell you is if the injector works or not. Same with buzz test, but only electrically. You're hanging your hat on this is saying all is good.
The Snap-On guy and your misfire is telling you what is happening, you've got two bad injectors. Syn oil and 9100 will only help an injector's spool valve work a little better, but if you have lower injector issues or major spool valve smoothness from polishing or varnish it can't help.
Sorry apparently my notifications are turned off. I didn't realize there were any more responses. I do have stiction when I first fire it up and have for a couple years now. It was just weird how I changed the oil with the same stuff and boom there's a miss. I do suspect injectors just don't have the cash to just throw the couple in and hope and then not have it work. Lol. I appreciate the help and comments. Dropping it off at the Ford dealer at 8 am for some confirmation with there tools. I was pointed to a tech there that's trusted and supposed to be pretty knowledgeable in the diesel area. Thats my biggest fear when going to a garage and somebody not being honest and guessing and just tossing parts at it. I'm ok with guesses when you come out an say hey this is what I think. Lol. I work alot and just don't have any more time to play around with it so hopefully they will say yep these are definitely bad. I'll let you guys know what happens.
Well I went to the dealer and it needs #2 injector. Said cylinder 8 is 5% lower on compression than the rest. They made it sound like it was gonna die lol. I'm not concerned about it. Other than the miss it runs fine. Has some blowby but nothing excessive. It's got 219,000 on it now.
