Ok so i have a 2004 6.0 im guessing early 04 because icp is under the turbo. Any way heres the deal 2 days ago started rough idle only when worn no smoke. Start resurching then yesterday rough idle all the time. Black smoke. Power lose so. Those are semptoms heres what iv dune. Checked the the turbo spline. Its good cheched volts at ficm good 48.5 volts when key on, and 47.8v when trucks running. Checked icp sencor and have 1.2v on signal side. I pulled the egr valve was a little durty but not bad.cleaned it and put it back. Took it to a shop down the street. Hooked up there scanner have cylinder 6. And cylinder 5 faults. Take it home, and run a bubble test on the fuel system. Fail bad i havent checked each bank individualy yet ran out of time today. And i have not yet checked the ipr valve.Just want yalls opinions. Before i go any further.

Sounds like injector failure. Check your fuel pressure, ensure you have clean oil, and maybe it's time for a Blue Spring.
Also check the MAP hose running down to the pass manifold for cracks at the nipple. It will affect the turbo spool up.

Just changed the oil about 2000 miles ago t6. And i have the blue spring upgrade. Not shure about the oil pressure yet need to get a gauge. I just got the truck about 7 months ago and dont really know to much about the history. Hopping they didnt replace the injectors and not torque them down properly. Ithe only reson i was doing all the other checks was to rule every possibility. Out before making a perches. On injectors. Dont want to just throe money at it.

If you failed the bubble test, there is your issue. Pull glow plugs one at a time until the bubbles stop. That is your bad injector/injector seal. Pull the injector and look for a bad copper on the bottom. A bad copper seal will produce bubbles just as a bad injector.

Cool see i read that you took all out but one and just changed witch one you leave in and the one that still bubbles is your bad one. Nother question how do i check if its a bad. Seal and a bad injector because if i just replace the seals on the injector and i still have a stuck open or sealed injector. I dont want to do things twice

What he^^^^ said. Plus keep in mind the injector pintle can leak compression into the fuel system too. For the cost of down time and risk of it still leaking, I replace the whole injector and be done with it.
After you pull the bad injector, crank engine over to blow out any fuel that went into the cylinder. Make sure the old copper seal is on the old injector. Check the sealing surface in the head for the copper seal and be sure it is clean. Use compressed air to blow out all the threaded hold down bolt holes for the oil rail and injector so you get an accurate torque.
Oil the top seals of the injectors before setting the rail on to stop the orings from damage.
Torque the rail and injector hold down to spec. Search around here you'll find specs depending on the style of hold down you have.
After restart and you verify no leaks and the problem is solved, then, only then open a beer and celebrate.
P.s. don't start this until you sleep of that drinkin.

Joking about the drinkin. And happy b-day to him.
Your question though is easy.
and ! The only other I'd use is from International.

The link below is a very good source for parts and FICM repairs and tuning. He is also active on the forum. I'd go here first.

Allright guys update on truck so was doing bubble test. Pull the number 6 glow pug and what do u know no bubbles. Havent pulled the injector yet had to leave the house. Butgood news. But if you have read you know the scan tool read both number 6 and number 5 cylinder faults. Should i just replace the number 6 or do both just in case is the question. One other thing idk who worked on this truck before me but the damn passenger side valve cover wasnt even tightened. Down i mean the rubber bushings on the bolts wherent even touching the valve cover. And i descovered the ficm is a remanufactured one. So o know its had issues in the past.

Since both injectors are on opposite sides, not hurt in changing out #6 first and test.
If still issues, easy enough to pull the other (passenger side) cover and replace #5 too.

Thats the plan replaced number 6 but had other repairs that needed to be dune that im waiting on befor starting it. I had a bad leak on the y pipe. It was the driver side flex part. So i pulled the y pipe and took it to a exhaust shop the are welding. A steel braded one in its place only costing $40. And wile the turbo is out im cleaning it. Even thoe it wasnt bad. And dosent rely need a cleaning.

Good idea. Once the turbo is out, clean the unison ring up and add a light coating of anti seize to ensure smooth movement.

For the future if this ever happens agen is it a good idea to,instead of replacing the injector. Just buy part #ap0002 injector oring kit for all 8 injectors and just see if it fixes it. I can get all 8 for $80 and re seal all of them. Ensted of $260 for just one injector. That leaves room down the road for another injector to start leaking.
