Hi, I've posted a thread before about my problem with my 2003 6.0 diesel Excursion but it was about a year ago.
At present I've come to the conclusion that my HPOP is bad, I pressure tested my system and could not hear any leaks until I removed my oil cooler and the oil in the reservoir was bubbling.
I purchased a new HPOP from ForDiesel and installed it but I'm still getting air coming through my oil cooler reservoir so I sent the HPOP back assuming it was faulty, they sent me a replacement which is doing exactly the same. if I put 110lbs of shop air through the top of the HPOP some of the air is exiting the bottom of the HPOP so can anyone please confirm that its not supposed to do this and I have been sent another bad pump.
I didn't know there was a "brand" its the round one, says bostech fuel injection on the box lol
I'm getting worried now that even if they send me one that's ok that it wont last long with all the work that has to be done to replace the damn thing lol
We'll those early round pumps people have been rebuilding but not doing a thuro job be it lazy or not able to get parts to change the pistons on that pump
OEM is even hit and miss from the feedback on here
When you pull the pump can you spin the gear make sure it's not binding
Lots of folks 3rd pump is a charm deal and it's BS there a lot of work to get at
Adrenaline pumps are new and haven't heard any issue yet probably the best way to go IMO
I would have went for an adrenaline couple year back when mine went if it wasn't a week before. Xmas when it died
yes I've seen the adrenaline pump, twice the price almost but its sounding like it would be the better investment, especially since its costing me $35 to keep returning defective pumps
I'm using the special tool you buy that you attach in place of the IPR valve, I also put shop air into the top of the hpop while sat on the bench and it was leaking air out of the bottom.
my original pump had a lot more air coming from it than my 2 (what I believe to be faulty) replacements did but I'm assuming at 110psi shop air it shouldn't be leaking anything through it since it works with pressures around 3000psi
You would in most cases find a check valve. But with this your not
going to have any pressure when the engine stops so there will not
be any back pressure. It might have a anti drain back valve. Did you
turn the engine over to fill the pump with oil? That might make a difference
with a reman pump. Worth a try to see if it seals.
Worth a try to see if that makes it not blow air bubbles.
