So new trans is installed, along with a new 6.0 cooler. I reused my BTS valve body they i got with my DP tuner. Just sent back the old trans for the core charge return. So when i dropped the old trans pan a few of the valve body bolt that hold it up were approx 1/2 turned out, like working loose out. I am now wondering if that had something to do with the original slipping that occured. Either way i'm sure i was overdue for a new trans. So Ford gives 3 yr unlimited miles warrenty as long s i bought the new cooler. Now i do notice the shifting is a lot tighter and smoother, but at certain rpm's i det like a loud growl type noise at approx 62 mph.. go to 65 and it dissappears it happens at a couple of other mphs but im not sure the speed. Trans temps seems to be real good. I have Bg in it for trns fluid. I have tried all my DP settings and it seems to be working fine. I did replace the flywheel at the time since it was missing a few teeth. Other that that small noise i am fully satisfied... Jeff
Hello everyone. I am concerned about the transmission filter in my 02 Excursion. I drained out 7 quarts and pulled off the old filter. I noticed that the filter is really not held in place very securely. It is just shoved up a hole in the bottom of the tranni with a orange hard o-ring. You can wobble it pretty easy with your fingers. Is this anything I should worry about? Is there a aftermarket support bracket available? I know if it falls out and lands in the bottom of the pan, I will have big problems. I would appreciate any suggestions.
If you have the right filter the pan will hold it in place. Once the pan is on it's impossible for the filter to fall out. I've never seen an aftermarket bracket anywhere. I suppose you could make one, but I don't think it is necessary.
