NEVER put a used converter on a new transmission! That's a good way to have to replace the transmission again.

You can flush the cooler lines. There is no good way to flush a cooler. The only way to keep the new transmission from failing from debris that works loose form the old coolers is to replace BOTH coolers when replacing the transmission.

Ouch... That sounds expensive! Same thing go for a manual trans with a cooler??

Could you not add a filter (magnafine?) to the outlet of the coolers before the transmission to catch any crud that may flow through the cooler?
the new trans mission has the converter included. I also will be replaceing the flywheel since i have a few bad teeth on it . I was using Penzoil ATF fluid. I was on the phone with Brians truck shop a few years back and he suggested to use it with the stock transmission. So i did get 280k out of the first stock transmission. I expect to get about the same on this one. I did upgrade to the 6.0 cooler soon after i bought the truck so that may have helped in the good milage on it.
I plan on getting a stock 4R100 from Auto NAtion (past tousley). Converter is included. Im geting a new seal as well. Than since its apart i plan on putting in a new flywheel since a few of my teeth are missing. So my next question is the plan is to use BG products, however which one to use, Synth? or conventional. I had conventional pennzoil atf int the old trans it went for 280K. I do have the upgraded 6.0 cooler. So after its all flushed out approx how much would i need since i now have the bigger cooler? Im thinking 20 qts should be good. any suggestions?
