Not carefully enough though.

See the "between mods and fixes" part? He wants to drive it around the block every now and then after installing headers or adjusting a distributor etc. Good try though.

Look, I'll invite anyone to dig up my past opinions here on what kind and how much insurance to carry. Then get back to me. Thanks.

In this case, he really doesn't need or want a full policy and full coverage and the rest of it. It will be parked most of the time.

Ok boys, I appreciate all the suggestions. I have it figured out now. Just to clarify, I have a tag but to renew it I have to show proof of insurance. I am getting full coverage also. Thanks again.

One thing to think about while restoring your trucks and NOT being insured until you can get it on the road. Your house hold insurance may not cover it for fire, theft or any thing else as it is a non-running truck. If you have someone helping you and they get hurt the household ins may not cover that also. Check with your agent to be sure unless you are good at reading and fully understanding all of the fine print (as if that is humanly possible).

If you are a veteran I would suggest checking out USAA. With them I pay a much lower rate while my truck is in pieces and not being driven.

I'm happy with Hagerty, under $200 a year, full coverage, $15,000 agreed upon value if stolen or totaled ,I am able to use to run errands, The only requirement is it must be garaged when not in use,(at home) Easy to get, 1/2 hr. on line (plus I did call them to be sure I could use my truck to run errands not associated with any club or show business)and a few pics. There are several good company's out there as you have read in the above posts, so check em out and enjoy .

My insurance is with Berkley Classics. They want your vehicle stored in a garage, but otherwise there are no restrictions. Maybe mileage is supposed to be below 2500 miles per year, but my agent didn't make a big issue of it--like nobody ever actually tracks mileage so don't worry about it. Agreed value is $12000, and the annual premium is $115. I'm a new policy holder so I have no experience with making a claim with this company.
