So I have been looking around for insurance on my 52. In Florida you must have insurance to get a tag. I have looked around for something cheap just so between fixes/mods I can legally drive it. Nothing seems to be inexpensive anymore. lol I just hate to pay a lot of money and only drive it maybe a 100 miles. Any suggestions?
Mine through Hagerty is about $230 a year, full coverage, $10,000 replacement value on my '53 as it now stands. I bumped up the PIP and underinsured motorist coverage, but it's still darn cheap.
I have been using American Classic for years. They give you an agreed upon replacement value and there is no form to fill out to renew like some of the others. Now, if you are a veteran, you can get USAA auto insurance on your daily driver and they will send yo to American classic and you get a discount there.
And just for *****s and giggles, Consumer Reports did a two year study on auto insurance and the best price out there is USAA. The worst is Allstate followed by Geico, State Farm, and Progressive.
Progressive really sucks if you have a claim.
I had a buzzard hit my 2016 Acura headlight with no body damage.
It cost me about $1200 to repair and they paid around $600 or $700.
Didn't take me to the end of the day to drop them!!!

If you just need coverage to get a tag then a state minimum required liability policy is all you need, should be about $10 or $15 a month depending where you live.
State minimum liability coverage is a very poor choice. Kill a young neurosurgeon and see all your assets disappear. You should have maximum coverage for liability, uninsured and underinsured motorists coverage, as well as an umbrella policy of at least 1 million dollars.
I have litigated these type of cases for over 47 years, and believe me, don't go cheap on the coverage. It is very inexpensive and will protect you nicely.

Excellent advice, Even maim or limit any family wage earner and you're on the hook.
