I sure there are a bunch of threads posted about this topic but here's another.I have been looking for a basic black inexpensive carpet kit for my 73 super camper. I have seen them from 89 bucks on up. I've seen cut pile and uncut loop. I'm not worried about keeping my truck original in appearance on carpet type. I just want a good carpet that is easy to keep clean. What types have you guys used in your trucks and which would you guys stay away from? And any pointers on tips and tricks installing it would be appreciated also. I just got done installing my floor pan so now it's carpet Time.
Either cut or loop pile will work fine, it's just a matter of personal preference. I like the cut pile myself.
When you go install it, chose a sunny day, spread the carpet out and let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours. This will make it easier to lay down and helps get the wrinkles out.
Go in expecting to have to trim the carpet. Use a very sharp blade (box cutter). For small holes DO NOT use a drill to put holes in the carpet. Mark the location of the hole and use the box cutter to put an "X" where the hole is, then cut the X away.
ACC is a great product and many suppliers are just reselling ACC. I believe that in 73 only loop pile was available, but it probably just depends on your taste.
x2 for ACC. Used 'em a few times over the years for different cars, good value. Price, quality, and customer service. That's where I'll be going when it's time for our '73.
