My 6.0 is largely stock. It's got a 4 inch exhaust but nothing else. I never see boost numbers. Even towing a 28ft 7k camper. Above 25 psi. Is this normal? Or am I missing out on something. Mine is really sluggish. A 6.9l IDI non turbo could very well outrun me. I have problems getting off the line. Even using low gear. It gets up and goes after about 6 seconds. Is there something in missing?
Have you ever cleaned the turbo? These Variable Geometry units can act like a fixed vane if the VG part is stuck... Some have ended up just putting in a new unison ring while they are cleaning it...
Cleaned the turbo???? When I bought the truck it had a brand new one on it. Just as well I drive on the highway a lot. The shop I took it to who has done hundreds of head gaskets and other fixes on 6.0s said as long as im not putting around town constantly and I drive above 55 often enough, that will do most of the cleaning for me. How involved is cleaning the turbo?
Work done as of now:
EGR delete, no EGR valve.
Oil cooler done 30k ago, deleted EGR at the same time.
4" straight pipe exhaust.
EBP is 14.5 @ idle
Steady FICM @ 47-48 volts
VGT @ 66.6% at idle with EOT/ECT 145.3/140.0
I let the engine cool down then restarted it
25-26 lbs is right in the ballpark. Has it prompted any cel codes, P0299 especially?
Check you MAP tube down to the pass valve cover for cracks or leaks as this will delay the turbo spool up and performance.
not a good pic but
look at the red wire where it runs along the cowl Right in-between those two white zip tie Holding the red wire just below it hooked to the HVAC Box there is a black bracket with 3 Bolts silver color that bracket Holds the MAP Sensor
pull hose from map sensor off at intake manifold while running, make sure air blowing out and brass fitting not stopped up, then take rubber hose off at sensor being very careful because its plastic the hose goes on it will break if you bend any, make sure air blowing thru hose and not stopped up.
