EGR disconnect = Turbo Fart

I cant seem to figure out why I only get turbo fart when I have my EGR unplugged, when I plug it in I can accelerate hard and let off all day long with no turbo farting, but if I unplug my egr it does it all the time. I like running with it unplugged, but it gets annoying. Thanks for any help.

I disconnected mine and removed the throttle plate and I don't get any farting. Although I can't say I know what a turbo fart sounds like.

With the EGR valve closed you do not get any exhaust flow through the system and into the engine. Since none of the exhaust is bleed off then all of the exhaust is available to flow to the turbo. This results in quicker spool up of the turbo & increased boost pressure and thus when you chop the throttle you hear the turbo fart.

Hope this helps

Thanks again blackhat, that makes sense. Can alot of turbo farting be harmful in any way?

Nope, there is no waste gate on a VGT turbo so the air takes the path of least resistance before the turbo spools back down and that is out the intake side. You can hear it easier do to your A/M air intake. But the turbo fart will not hurt anything.

Drive it and enjoy it.

The turbo farting didnt actually get much louder since I kept the stock enclosed system, Maybe outside though since I have the zoodad mod, But I can imagine its real loud with an open system. A good reason why I wouldnt want one.
