So I'll try to be quick on this. I took my truck in for a tune up (spark plugs changed),the technician said he won't touch y truck (2004 F150 SuperCrew 5.4 v8)and no one else in town would do the same.Spark plugs break trying to remove them leading to substantial labor costs. I found out there is a class action lawsuit against Ford and settlement for what amounts to a bad design motor.I'm looking at around $1,200 just to replace plugs with very little compensation back. Has any one else been through this? It hit me like a ton of bricks all of a sudden. What have you guys done or been compensated for?
Thanks

Mine's an '07 F150 5.4 3V. So far I've changed the plugs myself twice (204,000+ miles) and have yet to break any.
I know, in my area though, it's nearly impossible to find someone other than a dealer who'll change the plugs. And if you do have the dealer change them, you'll have difficulty sitting down for a couple of weeks.
As for class action lawsuits, the only people that make out in those are the attorneys. They'll rake in millions in legal fees and you'll wait years to get your $7.53.
I would go to a Ford dealer that has experience with them. There are a couple guys at the place I go that have good luck removing the plugs. I had plugs changed in both my 5.4's when they had around 95,000 miles with no broken plugs.
I had mine done at a Ford dealer at 91,000MI back in late 2012. It ran me $445 and one broke. They replaced them with the updated SP515 plug which is a one piece plug that should not break.
