I have a 2004 F150 5.4 L 114,000 miles. i bought this truck in July of 2006 with 21,000 miles on it, it was a leased vehicle prior to me purchasing it. The truck runs fine, I was going to attempt changing the spark plugs until I read all the posts and finding out about TSB 06-5-9 ( 3-3-06). I just phoned the dealer where I purchased it and they said the plugs where not replaced before my purchase on 7-14-06. Was it there responsibility to replace the plugs or @ least tell me about the TSB?? before I bought it. Sounds to me like with 114,000 miles and must be original plugs, that these plugs will probably NEVER come out? commments, other than why did I wait so long to change them? thx!!! Again, the truck runs fine. and still get 15.8 to 17.0 MPG
nope, case of buyer beware. they are only responsible for telling you about recalls if they have your contact info.
I'm usually a very strong vote for the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory...but you are way past the 100k interval. Just use lots of WD-40/Kroil or some other product to help break those puppies loose. plan on taking 2-3 days to get it done. rushing the job will only make matters worse...and likely to cause breakage
Wow! Didn't know anything about the plug problem on my 04. Was thinking about having them changed at the dealer. They quoted me a price of $750. I just stated laughing. Mine only has around 65K mi. It's been a great truck but I'll have to sell it before I'll pay that kind of money for a plug change.
