Need Help!

I just joined, but have owned Ford trucks for the better part of my life. I have a 1988 F250, 351 Windsor. My wife recently informed me that my oil pressure gauge wasn't working, needless to say, it was, and my engine was officially done. I picked up a 1996 E150 doner van from Craigslist for $400, it runs great, so out with the 1988 blown engine, and in with the roller motor. I changed the intake and exhaust manifolds out, killed in emissions, etc. The engine runs strong up to about 55 mph, then, if I push it, if falls flat on it's face and drops speed. I need advice here, are there sensors that are not working with my computer? I've changed the coil and fuel filter, so I've ruled out fuel delivery and spark... What am I missing?

You will need the computer from the Econoline, otherwise your truck will not run correctly using its original computer.

I hope that's really not the case, the only thing I retained from the doner engine was the block and heads, everything else I changed... and I scrapped the van already...

I've been telling people the following for over 30 years: You have to match the computer to the engine, otherwise...

There has to be something I can do here, the ECU from the van went with the van and all the other parts to the scrap yard. The truck starts okay, a little cold blooded, runs fine to about 55 mph, but it will not run highway speeds, acts like it's starving for fuel if I push the pedal down more than half... Anything other than changing ecu's?

I dont see why you would need the computer, you basicly put a used longblock in right? Have you checked for codes? You could check fuel pressure while driving it. How old is the fuel filter?

No you don't need the van's computer.. it wouldn't even plug in anyway being a 104 pin OBD2 processor.

There is no good reason the '96 longblock wouldn't work in your truck.. as long as the longblock is the only thing you used... none of the wiring... none of the accessories. Back to basics, have you checked fuel pressure? Any codes?

I went to have the codes checked at Autozone, they told me it was too old, they couldn't do it, I haven't look further into the codes yet... I did go through the basics, so far I've (in order) replaced the fuel filter (and by the way the fuel sprayed, I'd say I have VERY good pressure), replaced the coil, and most recently, punched out the cat...

You can pull codes youself without a scanner. Sorry I dont have the how to link. Try oldfuelinjection.com or wait and someone will send a link or tell you how.

I flashed 3167, and it repeated 3167... the 31 is EVP signal is out of range? and 67 is a park/neutral fault... but looking further into it, code 167 is for throttle position?

Okay, so I have codes 31 and 67, I'm not sure either have anything to do with my issue? Any ideas from anyone?
