Exclamation Help! This is a nightmare!

HELP!!!!
I purchased a "pre-owned" conversion E150 with a "5.8L" from a dealership.

LOVED THE VAN!!!!!

175,000 miles later, the oil pump quit going down the road.
I thought it was a gauge at first because it would flucuate then go to zero, but no "ticking" lifters were heard. Well....20 miles later, in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, I heard the ticking. Had to drive it another 20 miles with NO oil pressure. Needless to say there was a symphony of cymbels under the hood by the time I got home. I ordered a complete used '93 5.8L engine that had 38K on it. It was delivered to my mechanic (not really my mechanic, just the one that would tackle the engine swap for me. I don't do "VAN" engine swaps myself.)

My engine was pulled out of the van and low and behold it's a 5.0!!!!!!!! I couldn't tell when it was installed because of the small hood and all the tubing.

I decided to continue with the swap since shipping the "new" one back and shipping a 5.0 in it's place would cost a couple of extra hundred in just shipping.

Exhaust were modified to fit.
new water pump.
new oil pump (I don't trust used pumps)
new belts

Knock sensor harness was too short to reach, so was left unhooked. (no check engine light, to my surprise)

Idles good. Hmmmm.

Misses when accelerating though (smoothes out a little when you jump on it though). Hmmmmm.

Serpintine belt fell off. @#$ !

Mechanic tells me the engine needs tune-up. My concern is does the computer need to be swapped to a 5.8 model?

I've searched the web and this forum, but can't find any definitive info, mass air, sequential injectors, bank fired, etc...

HELP!!!! Does a '93 5.8L EFI have mass air? bank-fired injectors? or what? Do I have to get 5.8 computer, if so which one? there are many available from parts stores ranging from $99.00 to $291.99 ! (I know, my luck, I need the $$$$ one right?)

OR

do I just need a good tune up on this low mile junk yard engine?

Please help.

I have a feeling you will need a computer for the 5.8 but don't hold me to that! I would recommend a tune up first though!!!

you need the 5.8 computer, one from your year vehicle will definityly work, other years will work but I don't know what they are. you do not have mass air. Your injectors are bank fired. the 5.8 doesn't use the Knock sensor. It's not prone to knocking like the 5.0.

Get the correct computer. The 302 and the 351 have a different firing order.

Firing order doesn't matter when injectors are batch fired. The 302 computer will run the 351 until you can switch them out.

Why doesn't it matter? The bank to bank sequence is different. I would think you would be spraying fuel at closed intake valves if the sequence was changed. Then the fuel would no longer be in an atomized state. I am not sure how the banks are controlled in the software, do they alternate bank to bank or follow the bank firing order?

The banks are arranged 5,4,2,6 and 3,7,8,1. Now the 351 firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 and the 302 order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. If you take the banks, on each firing order the 4 grouped cylinders are all one after the other in the firing order in both firing orders.
1-3-7-2-6-5-4 -8 and 1-5-4-2-6 -3-7-8
