Alright got my first problem, other than the jacked up wiring which I'll just rewire as needed to make sure the truck will run. Wanted to make sure the motor would turn over before going through the trouble of putting headers on it (has bare heads at the moment). Tried jumping out the solenoid no luck sure solenoid is bad. Then I hooked a jumper cable straight to the starter cable. This would rule out any other issue such as NSS but nothing. Now I assume that starter must be frozen up. I go to take it off and 2 of the bolts are rounded off. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting them out? There is of course no room at all. The only things I coyld come up with is welding a nut to the bolt or pulling transmission out which I do not want to do.
Here are two things you can try. One is called a Gator socket. It has a bunch of pins in it to catch on the bolt head. The other is a head that has spiral teeth in it to catch on the bolt head. They can be placed on the bolt head and turned with a wrench or placed into a larger socket. I got my sets at sears.
Yes tried turning motor by hand and is free. Will try gator sockets since can be turned with a wrench. There isn't enough room for a socket and ratchet between the bellhousing and starter.
Am aware no room for ratchet head, you must use a 9" ext or bit more and shallow sockets with ratchet forward of the starter. 3/8 ths drive a must and if possible 6 pt universal socket.
...if its not too late....heat those dudes as hot as you can get 'em before getting in deeper...also tranny fluid mixed 50/50 with acetone has worked better for me than any commercial product in a can....they lie...
Got the starter off just took a hammer and chisel and broke the ear off the starter since it was junk anyway and then had room to get vise grips on the bolt
