No, I did not say that but if everything was engineered correctly why would one be needed in the first place. May be the front end take on some evil thing like the Jeeps death wobble once they get xxx amount of miles on them.

Just sayin or if you order one with optional larger tires then the steering damper is needed for better control.

Maybe some one has a better answer why one or two is needed unless it's setup for rough off road usage out the door.

I only had problems when things were not right.

I don't know but may be you have a better answer RichS2656

Perkint, take your truck to a good 4wd fabrication shop where they can make a u-bolt plate mount for the steering stabilizer just like the 99-04 Super Duties use. You could have them make u-bolt skid plates to protect the u-bolt ends under the axle at the same time. It is what Jeeper's do also. I take the use of a stabilizer as a Ford factory-engineered OEM option as a useful item.

I think both you guys are correct. But in different ways. Ford does list a steering stabilizer for Bump F100s but not F250s. So under "normal" circumstances a F250 should not need one. Installing one may be just a band-aide covering up a problem. Like worn parts such as Rich described. Now if bigger, badder, wider, aggressive tread tires and wheels with a nasty offset are installed I can see needing a stabilizer. The tires and wheels would then be the problem the stabilizer has to cover up. Also note, some tires and their tread pattern are worse than others at grabbing every little crack in the road.

i took your advice and took it to the great guys at S and H 4x4 shop in Sacramento, a shop that does a lot of work on jeeps. While they advocated the full power steering system replacement from a 77.5 -79 Ford 4x4 (I'm assuming that they would have used the Benchworks steering kit for 67-77 highboys), they agreed to add the steering stabilizer, especially after I told them I wouldn't be doing much 4 wheeling, other than work on a farm and occasionally driving in the snow.
Here's what it looked like after completion.
