engine rebuild

I have my engine all torn apart. As i said before i own a body shop and im only 31 so i also dont have much knowledge of the older motors. I am going to send out the stripped heads and block. I would like to get some more power out of them. What should i have done at the machine shop? Where can i buy an engine rebuild kit ? i know someone on here knows where to get the best product for the best cost. thanks

Kevin, I am sure you have the information in another thread but what engine are you having rebuilt? What kind of HP are you looking to make and stuff like that?

If a Y block this is a good source I think

ive looked at the y block page with all the rebuild kits and everything. but it just confuses me more because its just products and no literature on what i am gonna do... am i supposed to ask the machine shop to go .030 over and order that kit or is that not even close

Might be best to call the Y block place up. Where are you located?

What are your HP goals? If your Y is anything like mine I would replace the whole valve train.

Cool, I used to live in New London

Have you searched around? I did not read too much of this one but there may be other good threads too?
