This is very good advise. I also will not deal with someone who puts "firm" in their ad about the price. I figure they really don't want anyone but suckers contacting them.

Or it's someone who understands the value of what they are selling and don't want a bunch of kids offering them waste of time low ball offers. "Firm" wouldn't scare me off and I've even negotiated prices down when someone says firm. It all depends on their attitude and yours
I actually appreciate the firm price. I don't go to Walmart and negotiate the price of socks, they are what they are. If the price is firm, you can look at the truck, know what you are getting if you choose to buy it and decide if it's worth the price. If not, move along.
Ya make money on the buy. I was never a savvy negotiator growing up. Don't ever let someone know you are interested in something, they can smell it, and they won't budge. Try to act detached, non committal. Don't have to talk smack about the damn thing, but can run your fingers over the dents, making sure he sees that etc. Fair price for fair goods, everybody's happy.
By the same token, when somebody has to sell something right away, they sort of have an odor about them. It's sad but a savvy buyer can smell that too, and they will make a lowball offer, and maybe even get it.
I just figure don't fall in love with something that can't love ya back. There are always great deals to be had, keep looking.
