3 on the tree

I have a 77 f100 2wd with the 4.9 i6 300 and 3 on the tree. The 3 on the tree is being a pain in the tail. I have replaced every part except the shift arms and linkage. Up until two weeks ago it was was shifting fine with the new parts. It's started acting up again so I tried body mounts, that didn't work. So I pulled the column again and found the new Lmc shift tube sleeve had busted. So I ordered a NOS shift tube, and it still won't shift into reverse, but will shift into first if I slam it in.

I am hoping for every bit of knowledge I can get from you guys on the three on the tree so I can get this thing driving again. I am hoping for every part number available for the shift column and linkage and any tip possible. Thank you

What is the part number of the NOS shift tube you ordered? 1973/77: There's TWO different types.

Yep, that's the one I needed, it's made a bit better than the Lmc one, but for some reason it still isn't working with that one in

Hey Muth - no help here (yet), but I've got a '74 that was converted from 3-tree to a floor shifter and I wanted to put the 3-tree back in. I've rebuilt the column, but don't see how the linkage goes (for one of the shift rods.) Do you possibly have pics of how the shift rods go from the column to the tranny? There are some strange/added brackets on the tranny, and ne of the rods doesn't even seem to be close to fitting. (Not even sure if it's the correct one??)

Maybe if I can get mine going, I could possibly have some input here for you?? Thanks!

This is the one I found on the Internet of the column arms, if this one doesn't help, I can go take a picture of mine.

The bushings are different on mine. I ended up getting it fixed. I took the 2 month old Lmc shift tube and filed the top edge of tab down, reran the blinker wiring, and it worked...

Hey - yeah, I saw that pic when I was rebuilding my column. What I was looking for was a pic of how the 2 shift rods are routed from that column pic above to the tranny. (Probably best taken from underneath so you can see the side of the tranny where the rods mount...) It's like I can match-up one rod, but can't figure-out how the 2nd one goes. It does not seem to match-up at all...
