mirror display problems

Sorry if this has been asked somewhere else, I'm new here.

I have a 99 f150 XLT, 5.4 supercab 4x4, it came with all of the bells and whistles including the rearview mirror which displays the temp and compass points. here lately, i've had a problem with the temp display. It is showing a code??? "SC" on occasion. Thought it might be the sensor in the grill, so i replaced it, didn't help. Anyone have any thoughts or know what the "code" means. Also I have a problem with my wipers coming on without me turning them on (come on and off once, then nothing for a while) it's a mystery.

mirror display problems

Uncommanded wipers is a defective multifunction switch. Some people have taken them apart and cleaned the contacts but replacement is the best guaranteed repair.

SC generally means a short circuit on the Ford digital displays. I would look for chaffed wiring at the mirror wiring loom, and out to the sensor. Im assuming you never see this code in the compass mode?
