I have a '97 motorhome that is on a '97 e series chassis. The body of the coach is soon to be removed and replaced with a flat bed for hauling motorcycles. In preparation I've been figuring out fleetwood's wiring.
Now I have the standard brown trailer connector under the dash but above it I have a grey 6 pin connector and can't seem to find any documentation on. Ford doesn't have the electrical part of the upfiters for the '97 year van chassis on the fleet site.
Any insite?
My goal was to be able and plug an apcm to the chassis for idle control but it being a 6.8 gasser I don't have the port like I did on my 7.3.
Here are some pictures, hopefully someone knows what this is.
looks like the trailer brake, plug , harness end , same as on my 2002 f250,,v10 pretty sure it is,, to hook up brake controller,,
,,, oops my bad,, didn't look at pic.s as much as I should have,, yea you have 2 , grey and brown ,, not sure what other one is , hopefully , someone will chime in with better knowledge of your rig,,
Moved to the correct forum. Yes, the 6 pin plug is for the trailer to package when using an electric brake controller. Most auto parts stores sell the harness to plug into it and then wire into the brake controller. You should have a factory 7 pin plug in the rear bumper if equipped with the tow package.

I know one is the brake controller plug, it's the other one I don't know what goes to.
I thought I explained it we'll especially with the pictures.
That vacant connector might also be originally intended for a rear area heater & A/C unit---the colors look vaguely familiar with that system. See if there's a free online schematic of the trailer brake connections and another for the rear area heater.
Even though this cab & chassis found use as an RV I'm wondering if it wasn't originally outfitted from the factory with extra wiring and connections, its final use not known, things like this added for maximum flexibility and quick sale to upfitters?

I'll look into that. I know the vin sticker says equipped with rv package and not to be used as an ambulance.
