A segue to Scout and museum info. I saw one of the Scout III prototypes this week at the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, IN. It was a lot shorter than the Scout II. Not nearly as much room inside for cargo. Saw one of the offroad racing Scout IIs at the National Automobile and Truck Museum that is behind the ACD museum. Both are buildings from the old Auburn car manufacturing company. Then there is the Early Ford V-8 Foundation Museum. Smaller than the others, but dear to the heart of this newbie flathead fan.
I'm on my 4th truck and 1 1949 ford tractor! It is a sickness? Or a hobbie . I do maybe two car shows a year it's funny but not really my thing. I'm just sort of a back yard tinker guy and enjoy redoing them, I kinda have a hankering for a 66-77 bronco now....had one I redid years ago and sold it...what a mistake!!!!

Had old ford trucks since 1972 and only been to one car show ever. Couldn't figure out the attraction so I went back home and tinkered. Love the old broncos too.
Ha! That's great we're out of the same mold! The only show I take my truck to is " the Rough and tumble" it's a old farm equipment, tractors and hit and miss motors, with some old cars and trucks! Plus it's got a cool swap meet area! I only take my old trucks there because if you show it you don't have to pay to get in!!! .......I know I'm cheap!!!
Somebody talk me down!!!!!my wife is out of town and I am trolling the **** sites
(E bay motor,Craigslist ,car and truck trader,motorsports, Hemmings ) I need a fix bad!!
My truck is even hooked up to the gooseneck 48 foot trailer .....I went to pick up my skid steer at a job and had to fight the urge to turn right and go truck hunting!
Good thing I have you guys to talk some sense into me.
This weekend the wife and I went to dinner in Pittsburgh. We parked on a side street and as we headed to the restaurant we passed a fenced-in yard with some old trucks for sale. Wouldn't you know one was a 46 Ford pickup. The body looked straight and didn't see any rust (wife even said so). Anyway, while waiting for a table, I call the # that was on the sign in the windshield. The guy tells me its been modified with a chevy 350, auto trans, and some rear axle that lets it "cruise all day at 70mph". Might be a good truck but not one that interests me. Never expected to run across an old Ford truck for sale in downtown Pittsburgh!
Darn, you had me going there Joe! A non-rusty 46 Ford in Pittsburgh? But alas, a 350 Chevy
Don't get me wrong, it may be a very nice truck for someone looking for a modified old pickup. It certainly looked fairly solid from about 30 feet. It's just not something I'm interested in.
Neither am I. If I'm looking at something as old as a a 46, I want it s original as possible. I don't even want a truck with a newer Ford 302 in it, let alone a small block Chevy. If it's something from the 70's or newer, fine put whatever motor you want in there but a truck from the 50's and older, I prefer to leave it original. That's just my opinion

From after work on Friday night to Late Sunday night (one weekend) we could have a flattie transplanted back in. I'm just sayin that a rust bucket takes a couple years but engines/trannys they come and go. What can be done can be undone. Might want a donor vehicle, but they aren't hard to find.....

Good point. Is it that easy to find a donor flathead V8? I know they made millions of them, but that was 60+ years ago. Lately I've been cruising Hemmings for Model A pick-ups-the original truck!
