Shock Question

Bought some Fabtech Stealth shocks for the front and rear of my truck. Ride is much better as they are stout as hell. Question is about noise. They seem to be loud over bumps particularly when turning. Sounds like some cars that the struts bang over bumps and wash board roads. Have replaced all my front suspension components except for the leafs over the last two years. Was wondering if its due to the mono tube design, stiffness or both.

Have you checked / replaced your swaybar bushings?

If the sound is coming from the floorboard it's likely to be the swaybar bushings as the Rikster mentioned.

Shock itself should be silent, unless the bolts are loose and it's about to fall off. That has a very particular sound.

yes on ball joints about 50k miles ago. I am leaning toward swaybar bushings...however I did the energy poly replacements about 25k ago....been fighting the squeaking ever since (yes I greased the **** out of them). occasional thump on left turns from under right floorboard.

What about your needle bearings? They can thump a bit when they get really bad? Or even your hub bearings?

Shock Question

Try tightening the sway bar bushing bolts. I had a clunk during sharp turns and after I tightened the sway bar bolts, the clunk was gone.

Check to see if your down pipe is hitting the spring hanger.

thanks for the replies. Bearings were done with the ball joints. Will look at tightening bolts and the downpipe. It is isolated to left turns when the weight transfers to the right front. Leaning toward the sway bar...will investigate this weekend a report back. Finally stopped raining in Texas.

Mine was the exact same, left turn, had a noise, never any other time. It was my down pipe shifting and hitting the spring hanger.

Good luck!

UPDATE: I inspected all the suspension and steering components and did not find anything out of the ordinary. So i re-tightened all the sway bar bolts and found both upper drop links mounting points and the right axle bracket a bit loose. Does anyone know the torque specs for the sway bad components? Anyway seems to have fixed it so whatever I did it worked...for a change
