Those look like the hood hinge area stiffener brackets I have seen on some 78-79 pickups and broncos. What you have pictured-from what I can remember would go between hood and hood hinge.
My truck doesn't have them but i have seen them on other trucks in salvage yards.
As mentioned above. Part of the factory solution to having the hood keep from hitting the windshield in event of a front end collision. I see you got the center piece in place.
See the circular cut out on the side of the hood, about in the middle? Supposed to help the hood " bend" in case of collision.
