E4OD hard shift
Hi guys I'm new to this forum and a little out of my element when it comes to efi ford's. I have a 92 f250 with 460 and electronic overdrive I am assuming it's an E4OD. When it's cold it is extremely hard shifting from 1 to 2 unless I shift it manually and it wants to down shift back to first at any speed under 50km/30mph. Sometimes the speedo needle drops of and shuts off cruise and now most recently it feels like it's either slipping in overdrive or hunting between overdrive and 3rd. I almost pulled the tranny out but after reading some of the posts here I'm thinking it could be in the cluster? Any advice is appreciated thanks!

Check for codes. The fact the speedometer drops and the cruise has kicked off indicates an issue with the VSS signal. It could be the VSS, wiring, PSOM. Process of elimination. Start with the code check first.
The computer uses the buffered signal from the PSOM to control the transmission.
