I got a 95 power stroke e4od tranny 4x4 . The transmission will act stupid causing irregular shift patterns , and the of light will begin to blink but no codes are being pulled up . It's seems when my truck sits out in the heat or I turn the heat on in my truck to max it will begin to shift in ways that I can't explain it does something different every time it starts to shift like 1st to 3rd them back to 2nd then 3rd then slams in to od that's the most common way it will shift , iv checked the vvs, the tone rings are good , the vvs was not scratched in any way , does this narrow it down to my psom ?
I had almost the exact same problem except for the od light never flashed. I changed the vss, the connector for the vss. I pulled the main trans harness connector and checked it out. Pulled the psom unit from behind the speedometer and gave it a visual inspection. Put everything back together hasn't done it since. Still never figured it out but I don't care as long as it shifts fine.
I had a similar issue in my 1995 F150 5.8/E4OD. It was having erratic intermittent shifts.. very harsh/random gear changes and the OD light flashed. I replaced the VSS to no avail. Turned out to be the PSOM.
