2007 f150 xlt 4.6 4x4 auto transmission issue

truck has 145,000 miles on it, went to get an oil change they said it was low on tranny fluid so they checked the transfer case and it was over full. they said it was the input shaft seal for the transfer case, had that fixed, got truck back and then it started taking a while to go in to gear (drive) reverse is just as it was no issue, then I was going around a corner and when I went to put my foot on the gas all it did was rev like I was in neutral, so the next day went to pull out of my driveway and it wouldn't go in to gear and the O\D light flashed and the dash said trans fault, took it back to garage they said it was the speed control sensor so paid to have it changed, shifts smoother but still having the exact same issue, had the fluid and filter changed, better but still same issues, put lucas in it last night have not driven it yet but feeling like this is not going to fix it, looking for a solution not more ideas of what to try next spent enough money to get nowhere, need it fixed not better than it was, any help please

That code means there isn't a signal from the Output Speed Sensor (OSS.) It could be a bad sensor or a problem in the wiring between the PCM and the sensor.

The sensor is on the rear of the transmission. It has a two wire connector attached to it.

Ok Mark that did not work at all, still have the same issue. Nothing I have done has made any real change. It acts like it doesn't know what gear to be in, when I let off the gas for a corner or at a red light it acts like it loses track of what gear it should be in. It also takes about 45 secs to even go in to drive, it was like right now, now I have to wait for it to know it should be in drive.

Ended up taking it to a transmission shop and having the transmission rebuilt, a nice $1,400 bill for that but the shift points are still off. But it did fix the main issues I was having.

Does the OD OFF light still flash? It would be worthwhile to see if there are still codes. You may still have the P0720 code, which can cause these issues. A new sensor doesn't always fix that problem, often the problem is in the wiring to the sensor, not the sensor itself.

mark, no the OD light doesn't flash, just seems to struggle with shifting, going to put the transmission in to adaptive leaning mode to see if that helps at all.

When you're driving the transmission is in adaptive learning mode. You can't turn it on and off.

From what I read it said it is in that mode till it reaches a certain point with collecting data then it turns that mode off. If that is not the case then how do I adjust the shift points without getting a programmer? Or force it to adjust them itself? If that is possible.
