2004 F-150 Code Issues - Running Rough Under Throttle

Hello Gents. Let me know if you can help with the following.

2004 F-150 - 5.4L 3V (the crappy one) - 138,000 miles.

Over time, I have somewhat given up on this due to the issues and my good/cheap mechanic being a terrible/unreliable mechanic. We have gotten back at it and are trying to get it running well again.

At 75,000 - the Timing Chain/Cam Phasers were done - there were still some issues after this, but it was driveable.

When trying to get it running with a new mechanic, he said the Cats, Fuel Filter, O2s, Fuel Pump, etc. needed to be changed. This is what I was expecting. There were the typical Lean codes and O2 Sensor codes along the way.

Rather than paying $3k to get it done, I found a sucker (I mean friend) who was willing to help.

We did...
Cats --- these were HORRIBLE
02 Sensors
Fuel Filter
Full Exhaust
Fuel Pump Driver Module (not related, just done because we were under there - and it was half cracked off)

The truck runs well. It idles at 600 RPM - both hot and cold.

The problem is when laying into the throttle it kicks, sputters, loses power... just sucks.

Codes that I have gotten since then...

P0011 - Intake (A) Camshaft Position Timing Over Advanced (Bank 1)
P0021 - Intake (A) Camshaft Position Timing Over Advanced (Bank 2)
--- The two above I have never gotten before.

P0171 - Bank 1 System Too Lean

P0300 - Random Multiple Misfire Detected

P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1)
P0345 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 2)
--- The two above I have never gotten before.

I'm guessing my next steps are...

1. Plugs & COPs --- not really addressing above, but with the lean condition for so long and 138,000 these have to be toasted.

2. Oil Change --- run for 500 miles (last 50 with Seafoam) and do another oil change right before doing #3.

3. VCT Solenoids --- a typical issue. I'm guessing with the lean/hot condition it was in due to the cats these could have gotten worse.

4. Camshaft Sensors --- cheap and easy, may as well do them.

5. Fuel Pump --- mechanic was going to do it. We just didn't because we were so ticked off at doing the exhaust. Probably not the issue, but wouldn't hurt and I have the part already.

Thoughts?

Concerns?

What am I missing?

What else should I consider?

Welcome to FTE

Sounds like you've done quite a bit already. Some friendly folks will be along soon to help answer your questions. In the mean time feel free to browse and search the forum for additional information, perhaps someone has had a similar issue before.

The bad one?! Love my 04 with the 3v and it hasn't had any problems as of yet (I'm prepared for those to come). Until they do, I'm 131k on original everything.... except plugs. My truck threw the same codes (except for the Camshaft codes, that's odd.) and had no power accelerating exactly as you describe. Would bet its the spark plugs. Have fun! (Mine came out hassle free at 100k miles, but I've heard horror stores)

Was browsing local ads and found some msd coils for real cheap. Turns out the seller is a ford mechanic! I picked his brain and i think i should investigate my fuel and spark. Will check my fuel filter and plugs soon. I guess i better get some pb blaster...
Even if you dont care, I will keep you posted
