i recently picked up a 2005 Excursion Eddie Bauer
and the steering stabilizer was shot.
So I picked up a skyjacker dual stabilizer toreplace the single that was on it.
i ran into a problem on the drivers side, the clamps on the tie rod were pointed directly down and that blocked the shock.
so i loosened them up and rotated them forward then re tightened them, see the pics attached
is there any down side to rotating them like that?
also what is the point of that clamp on the left of the main clamps?
i drew a red arrow pointing to what i am talking about.
The orientation of the clamp is not an issue, just needs to hold the tie rod end in place. The nut end of my clamps actually point straight forward. I think the extra clamp is there "just cuz". Also I have more clearance because my Icon dual steering stabilizer holds the shock further away.
Hopefully you didn't change the alignment when you moved the clamp.
If you rotated that thing you messed with the toe settings. You can rotate it back where it came from, then just reverse the hardware in it so it sticks down/up or however you need it to. Although at this point you may want to get it aligned. That extra clamp thing keeps the alignment from changing if something were to loosen up. Just a safety really.

I didn't rotate the sleeve, just the clamps that hold the sleeve, the truck drives fine down the road, i really doubt the tie rod moved, the sleeve didn't even wiggle with the clamps loose

I am not really impressed with how SkyJacker places the shocks, clearances between the tie rods and the shocks are tighter than what i would like to see.
You should be good then. I see you have an adjustable trac bar as well. Are you lifted? You have the original design mag hytec cover that was known to interfere with the trac bars. Judging from the clamp positions on it, that has been avoided. Just be careful if you ever move that clamp.
