How come I cannot read this thing worth a crap? I just had the oil changed and I can't see a definitive line on the dipstick. This thing burns oil when I am towing so I need to keep an eye on it
I had the same problem... seemed that my old one had a kink in it or something so I bought a new OEM dipstick off eBay and it is still difficult to read. I get a solid reading in the hash marks after a fresh change, but then I get a bit of oil way past the hash marks... Doesn't matter which way you put it in. Usually just pull it out, lay it on a paper towel and shine a light on it and get a pretty good indication where the oil level is at. My V10 consumes a fair quantity of oil so I'm always checking/topping her off.
Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. If I think about it, I'll snap a picture of it tomorrow.
I checked mine in the sunlight and still can't see a definitive mark. Looks like a bunch of oil on the side from the dipstick tube is all I'm picking up
Lol! Confession to make here. When I read dipstick first time Ex was on driveway...on an incline. Duh. So I let sit overnight in flat garage and tried to read it. Same problem. Oil way past max line. Dipped and wiped like 5 times. Told my husband to go do it and see what he thinks.
I have to get in the sunlight and usually the better look comes on the backside of the stick, opposite of the hash marks. Then have to flip it over and see where that correlates to the marks!
I have to PUT ON my readers, Look in the sunlight, do it 2 to 3 times to feel comfortable, AND always believe the LOW side of the stick (which ever that side is).
